Founded in 1987 in response to the devastating AIDS epidemic in San Francisco, Pets Are Wonderful Support (PAWS) provides over 800 clients and their 1,000+ companion animals each year with critical services including a pet food and supply bank, supplemental and emergency veterinary care, foster care, re-homing, in-home cat care, and dog walking. And if you haven't yet walked a dog or cared for a cat belonging to a PAWS client, you really should because you don't know what you're missing. (Fluff, belly scratches, and licks, that's what you're missing!)
Tonight at the San Francisco War Memorial & Performing Arts Center, PAWS will celebrate 25 years of providing programs and services that keep low-income seniors and disabled people together with their pets despite the financial and physical challenges they face. And you should help them out by attending a gala brimming with local and national celebrities. Matt Cain (he of the perfect game), Jane Wiedlin (the Go-Go's), Pandora Boxx (RuPaul's Drag Race), Paula West (jazz singer), former Oakland Raiders safety Jarrod Cooper, and Greg Sherrell (DJ 'Fernando & Greg in the Morning) will all be there. Will you?
Ticket price, though pricey, will get you free hors d’oeuvres and desserts, free fine wine and champagne, and a performance by Paula West. If you buy the VIP ticket, you can mingle with Cain (or any of the other aforementioned notables).
Tickets: $150 (regular), $250 (VIP). Details.
