It's nice to see that, no matter how many millions or how much fame one has, not everyone in San Francisco pays mind to Michehlin stars, "chef-driven" fare, or an increasingly joy-free beer boom. Take, for example, the San Francisco Giants who hit up some local spots (i.e., not the Mission) after last week's victory parade. City treasure Leah Garchick has all the details. Of course.
"A little after midnight Tuesday morning, Giants pitchers Ryan Vogelsong; his wife, Nicole; Javier Lopez; and George Kontos, with scout and former Giant Pat Burrell, went out for dinner at Cafe Delarosa on Chestnut Street," Ms. Garchick reports. Customers broke out into a Giants cheer when he arrived (as customers should) and Lopez was deemed an "awesome tipper."
Bruce Bochy had dinner Tuesday night at the Stinking Rose, which we find inspiring for numerous reasons. (Stinking Rose is the foodie eatery of choice to crap on. But it's nice to know that there's a place for every type of restaurant in this city, as Bochy demonstrates.)
And our favorite factoid, as Ms. Garchick goes on to reports, was that Sergio Romo, along with friends Jacoby Ford of the Oakland Raiders and martial arts fighter Jake Shields (why not?), hit up Infusion Lounge on Wednesday where "they ordered a 15-liter bottle of Ace of Spades Champagne."
