The punky-looking, fare-evading cyclist seen on camera giving a 55-year-old Muni station agent a swift kick to the chest last month has been arrested for the unprovoked attack. Bay City News reports the suspect has been identified as 20-year-old Devon Riley. Riley was arrested late Friday afternoon on the Phelan Campus of CCSF after campus police received an anonymous tip from someone who presumably recognized his distinct haircut and sloppy streetfighting technique.
For beating up the station agent, Riley got three felony charges: suspicion of battery with serious injuries, battery on a transportation operator and "mayhem" — which we thought was only something you could get busted for in those Grand Theft Auto video games. No word yet on whether or not Riley will receive a citation from the MTA for failing to pay his fare share.
