A big electronic music fest called Beyond Wonderland happened on Saturday night in the parking lot outside Oracle Arena in Oakland. There were three tents/stages, a ferris wheel, and enough thumping oontz-oontz music to cause noise complaints far and wide. Like, hundreds of them.
The Oakland police tell the Tribune that they were getting dozens of calls by about 11:30 p.m. Saturday, and the calls were coming from as far away as San Leandro and Alameda. The party went until 2 a.m.
On Sunday, the City of Oakland and the Coliseum made a public apology for the "discomfort and inconvenience" caused by the festivities.
At least, as far as we know, there weren't any ecstasy overdoses.
