A 28-year-old woman and a 31-year-old man were shot by two assailants inside their home on the 1000 block of Atherton Street in Vallejo last night. The incident happened around 9:18 p.m. and a neighbor who heard the gunfire and saw the suspects fleeing went into the house to rescue the toddler, who was uninjured. The female victim, neighbors say, was pregnant.
The witness described two African American males fleeing the scene on foot in black hooded sweatshirts.
Another neighbor shown in ABC's coverage below talks about having moved recently to the street with his children and thinking that it was an OK neighbhorhood, but now he's a little worried. Police are reticent about whether or not this shooting could have been drug-related. There was apparently no sign of forced entry at the home and signs point to a gang-style execution.
The victims have not yet been identified.
