An estimated 400 students were rattled out of bed this morning at University of California at Berkeley after a 22-year-old male student slammed into a dormitory. Oops. "At around 3 a.m. Wednesday the car hit the southeast corner of Putnam Hall, an 8-story residence hall at Unit 1 located near the corner of Channing Way and College Avenue," reports Daily Cal. "Nobody, including the driver of the car, has been reported injured."
Bu wait, that's not all. The crash also severed a gas line. "PG&E had the gas shut off by about 3:45 a.m.," reports Oakland Tribune, adding, "The students will be without hot water or heat for at least part of the day Wednesday."
The student suspect, reportedly drunk at the time of the crash, fled he scene after crashing unto the dorm. He later returned to turn himself in to the fuzz.
