[UPDATE II: Suspicious device turned out to be "an old military-grade artillery shell." Egads. SF Appeal reports, "Police contacted Travis Air Force Base, which is sending technicians to determine the exact nature of the device." ] At around 10:45 a.m. today, a suspicious device was found near Channel and Fourth Streets near AT&T Park. Authorities have since closed the area: streets are closed, two buildings have been evacuated, and residents along the waterfront living in houseboats have been asked to leave the area.

Update I: On/Offramp to 280 along King Street has been closed. Motorists are advised to consult 511.org to identify alternate routes.
