Back by popular demand, the one-man show Humor Abuse by writer/performer Lorenzo Pisoni is re-opening next week at A.C.T. for another two-week run. The show got a rave from Hurwitt at the Chron when it opened for a brief run in January, and subsequently sold out. Now it's back from August 3 to 19 only, and we'd recommend getting tickets while you can.
Pisoni's father, Larry Pisoni, was the founder of San Francisco's Pickle Family Circus, and Humor Abuse is a stage memoir depicting Lorenzo's time in the family business, as the youngest member of the troupe. Hurwitt wrote that Pisoni's "clowning is a tour de force of physical comedy," but the show also tells the tale of his relationship with his dad, whom he knew primarily as a clown throughout his childhood.
Below, Pisoni tours around some of his favorite spots in San Francisco, and goes back to Glen Park Recreation Center, where the Pickle Family Circus used to perform every Memorial Day.
