540 Leavenworth is on fire, everyone. It's a residential building between Geary and O'Farrell, and there are a bunch of fire trucks on the scene, and one non-life-threatening injury has been reported. All five floors of the building are said to be ablaze, and it has been evacuated.

Update: Bay City News reports, via the Appeal, that 10 apartments were damaged and 65 residents displaced by today's fire. The fire was contained just after 11 a.m. this morning and early reports indicate the fire began in a light well, although the investigation is still ongoing. One woman was treated for smoke inhalation and another was rescued along with her cat.
