FILM: Midnite for Maniacs presents a triple feature event themed, Growing Up Too Fast (in Japan), which kicks off with a screening of Sofia Coppola gem, Lost in Translation, followed by the S.F. premiere of "the mother of all survival films," Kinji Fukasaku's Battle Royale, and Nobuhiko Ohbayashi's House, which is celebrating its 35th anniversary. FASHION: "Be a Slave for Fashion" at the de Young tonight as part of the museum's weekly Cultural Encounters series. Tonight's event will feature live music by The Fashion Slaves, the 6th Annual Discarded to Divine showcase presented in partnership with St. Vincent de Paul Society of San Francisco, and a screening of the film, Jean Paul Gaultier or How to Subvert Haute Couture, which is unfortunately sold out. THEATER: San Francisco writers Diane Karagienakos and Christopher Barranti team up for a three-week run of two short plays, It Is What It Is and The Watch Tower, sharing one stage, which kicks off tonight. The two works, both directed by Kathryn Wood and presented with a short intermission, complement and contrast each other with female/male perspectives on love, death, relationships and sexting.
