A man returning home from walking his dog on the 7000 block of Elverton Drive in the Oakland hills was shot last night around 10:30 p.m. while trying to enter his home. He was approached by two suspects from behind, one of them armed, who said something to him as he was walking toward his house. He either refused to respond, or responded while trying to get through the front door, and one of the suspects shot him in the arm before fleeing the scene. The man was transported to a local hospital and treated for his wound.

Across town in West Oakland, there were two separate shootings that appear to be connected to one another. There were reports of shots fired, though no one injured, on the 2700 block of Myrtle Street at 8:45 p.m. Police arriving on the scene found uncooperative witnesses, but six minutes later, at 8:51 p.m., two men were shot on the 2900 block of West Street just a few blocks away. One man was shot in the thigh and the other in the elbow. Police are investigating what they believe are two related incidents.
