Did you know the San Francisco Zoo has a new baby wallaby? It's not exactly new — the little joey was born back in September of last year, but only last week managed to poke its head out of his mother Sydney's pouch where it has been riding around for the past couple months. The little guy (or gal — the Zoo's marsupial experts don't know the joey's gender yet), is the Zoo's third red-necked wallaby and can be spotted in the Australian Walkabout exhibit where it should venture out of Sydney's pouch in the next couple weeks.
According to a press release from the Zoo, red-necked wallabies are "the largest of the wallaby species and can live in the wild about 15 years." They like to live alone and spend most of their days "resting in vegetation," which sounds like a pretty nice existence if you ask us.
