An Oakland 15-year-old who had been arguing with his parents over spending too much time with the Occupy Oakland campers and who is accused of strangling them both and stuffing them in the trunk of a car, will be tried as an adult. As the Chron is reporting, the youth was identified by Oakland police as Moses Kamin, and he's being arraigned in Alameda County court today.
The victims, whom police discovered Friday stuffed into the back of their PT Cruiser, are identified as Robert Kamin, 55, and Susan Poff, 50. Poff was a physician's assistant in the Tenderloin and the older Kamin was a clinical psychologist for the San Francisco County Jail. A coworker called police to the home after he did not show up for work. The Chron calls the couple "foster parents," but they had adopted Moses ten years ago because they were unable to have children of their own.
The car, which was sitting outside their home at 284 Athol Avenue near Lake Merritt, was charred as if someone had tried and failed to set it on fire. If convicted, Kamin could face life without parole.
