In Richmond, a 22-year-old college student was shot and killed by a gunman while sitting in a parked car not far from the Richmond BART station. The victim, identified as Contra Costa Community College student Edwin Martinez, was in his car on a residential street with his sister around 7 p.m. last night when the gunman came around a corner shooting at another vehicle while chasing it on foot.

After the shooter's original target sped off, the gunman turned on Martinez and his sister and opened fire. The sister reportedly hit the gas to make an escape, but Martinez had been hit by the gunfire and died on the scene.

Police have not yet found the suspect.
