The beaches around Cambria on the central coast are a lot more like the beaches of northwest Mexico these days with 10,000 gallons of fresh sewage having just been spilled out of the San Luis Obispo sewage treatment plant due to a power outage Saturday night. The spill, which occurred around 9:30 p.m. Saturday, was apparently caused by a single blown circuit breaker in an electrical panel, and it sent a torrent of sewage into Santa Rosa Creek and down into the Pacific.

County officials are warning people to steer clear of the creek and and the ocean at Moonstone Beach Park, which we're guessing isn't smelling so fresh today.
