The holiday season appears to have brought with it a new wave of violence in Oakland, with "at least" six separate shootings occurring between Saturday and Sunday, injuring five and killing one man.

A 25-year-old man who has not yet been identified was shot and killed outside a market on the 2600 block of Fruitvale Avenue at around 3 p.m. Saturday.

Additionally there was another shooting Saturday that injured two on the 1200 block of Seventh Street, and three other shooting incidents with non-fatal injuries that happened between Sunday and early this morning in three different locations in East Oakland.

Whether all this bloodshed was holiday booze-inspired or not, 'twas not a great weekend to be wandering around the Fruitvale or East Oakland!
