The Muni stops around the 16th and Mission BART plaza have been a hotbed for random acts of violence lately. Late last night, or early this morning if you prefer, a 40-year-old man seated under a Muni shelter at the intersection was slashed in the face by a knife-wielding attacker around 3:15 a.m.
The attacker, who was also in his forties, escaped on foot and SFPD has yet to pick him up. The victim, on the other hand, ended up at St. Francis Memorial to be treated for the slashing, which was not considered life-threatening.
If you were in the area early this morning and spotted something, you are encouraged to call the SFPD anonymous tipline at (415) 575-4444 and then promptly re-evaluate where you hang out at three in the morning.
