Members of Occupy SF, who were booted from Justin Herman Plaza early this morning, are now in the process of trying to reclaim the area. At least three people have been arrested so far. Police donning riot gear are facing off against angry protesters chanting "shame," "the whole world is watching," and "shutting down the west coast!"

Mayor Ed Lee released a statement this morning regarding the raid, saying, "I have made it clear to protesters that overnight camping at Justin Herman Plaza and on Market Street is not a sustainable or safe environment for protesters, the general public or city staff."

Advocacy journalists are currently at the scene and will be monitoring the (growing?) melee all night. Justin Beck is covering the scene seamlessly. Watch his live coverage below:

Update 8:45 p.m.: Witnesses speaking to the livestream explained that a small scuffle broke out after a a protester threw a duffle bag in to the crowd on the plaza. SFPD officers appeared to be arrested the single suspect. Earlier this evening at least two other protesters were arrested.

Update 9 p.m.: Via the above livestream, speakers on Justin Herman Plaza confirm that SFPD have left the plaza. Several protesters who were handcuffed and zip-tied by SFPD were released and not arrested.
