Suspicions confirmed: Tuesday's election had terrible voter turnout. How terrible? Including the ballots we're stil waiting to see counted, the total turnout will be around 40% of registered voters. Or: the lowest turnout ever for a contested mayoral race, the Appeal reports.

As political consultant Alex Clemens put it, that 40 percent turnout isn't "abysmal", but it doesn't exactly support San Francisco's image as "an activist, involved city" either.

For the curious, West of Twin Peaks had the highest voter turnout by neighborhood with 44.65% registered voters turning in ballots. So: feel free to admonish yourselves appropriately, non-voters.
