Over the weekend, yet another "biography" of interim Mayor Ed Lee popped up on doorsteps and in mailboxes of registered voters across town. The book, a parody of the "The Ed Lee Story: An Unexpected Mayor", was funded Leland Yee's campaign and it "wrote itself" if Yee spokesman Jim Stearns is to be believed.

More importantly everyone is talking about it! Here now, we round up some favorite excerpts and reviews of the new book, because somehow we don't believe anyone will be releasing a second edition with one of those "Praise for..." sections. Observe:

  • "If you loved "The Ed Lee Story: An Unexpected Mayor," the 132-page hagiography about the interim mayor that was released last week, you won’t want to miss this new volume put out by the Leland Yee campaign." - Jeanne Carstensen, BayCitizen

  • "The slim volume oozes sarcasm as it covers the history of Ed Lee’s tenure as mayor, including his promise to not run for a full term and charges of inappropriate campaign donations from contractors." - Amy Crawford, The Examiner

  • "...a vitriolic broadside against our appointed mayor, has been painstakingly put together to resemble the original propaganda mailer to the smallest detail. The type fonts are identical. The jaunty writing style is mocked all too well." - Joe Eskenazi, SFWeekly

  • "The similarly designed doppelganger begins with an ancient Chinese proverb: “A promise is worth one thousand ounces of gold,” a reference to Lee’s (broken) promise to God and country that he would not exploit his “caretaker” mayoral appointment and seek a full-term." - Luke Thomas, Fog City Journal

  • "[Leland Yee] knows he can’t win. All he cares about at this point is dragging everybody else down with him." - Tony Winnicker, Ed Lee for Mayor

Look for copies on your neighbor's doorsteps, at rival campaign headquarters or where ever fine attack ads are sold.
