We're obviously going to need to start rounding up the Occupy news on the regular, at least until the rains come and drive the protest out of the spotlight — if in fact that happens. So here goes...

First off we get word that after camp medics requested that their confiscated medical supplies be returned to the Occupy Oakland camp, the City of Oakland -- desperately trying to undo the wrongs of last week -- complied and gave them back their supplies. Also, there were some rumors that protesters were going to try to "occupy" Mayor Jean Quan's office today, but that may not be happening. And in case you missed it, here's a video of Michael Moore's Friday appearance in Oakland, including a lot of crowd-shouting, and his entire 40-minute speech.

Here in S.F., Chron architecture critic John King penned a lengthy piece in the Sunday paper about how the Occupy SF village is enlivening the long dormant and depressing Harry Bridges Park -- the 10-year-old strip of grass between the Hotel Vitale and Justin Herman Plaza that doesn't get used much by anyone except the homeless. See a nice photo below of the encampment from 37 floors up, by photographer Steve Rhodes.

Across the country in NYC, Joan Rivers joked about the Zucotti Park encampment, saying that it was interesting for about a week but now "Everyone’s on drugs and everybody’s singing, and they now have a DVD out, and now they want to do a reality show." Also, she quips, there are no gay men there "Because there’s no place to change, and no closets."

And just as Salon calls out the San Francisco Chronicle for totally missing the boat in their Occupy SF coverage, we get this pretty video shot by Chron staffers in which they talk to a bunch of protesters and regular people on the street about why the movement is important.
