As part of World Homeless Action Day, the Homes Not Jails activist group will team up with the hashtag-friendly Occupy SF and other activists groups to rally for homeless housing rights by squatting in several vacant buildings around town.

Last year's World Homeless Action Day demonstration saw several activists groups taking over the Tenderloin's Leslie Hotel. This evening's event promises to be even larger with the combined efforts of several homeless rights activist groups, Homes not Jails expects to take over over 10 vacant buildings with over 700 housing units. As a spokesman for the group told the Weekly, "It's most likely going to be hundreds of people. It could be even more than that... It's going to be big. It's going to be huge."

The event starts at Civic Center Plaza at 5 p.m. and will spread to the currently undisclosed vacant buildings by 6 p.m.
