The Snitch is reporting that SFPD has retracted its original statement regarding its involvement in the investigation of the lost iPhone 5 prototype at Sergio Calderón's house in July, confirming that three or four plainclothes SFPD officers did accompany a pair of Apple security officials. The SFPD officers stood outside of the house while the Apple officials searched Calderón's home and allegedly threatened him and his family.
SFPD released a statement that they don't have any record of the investigation, but that the captain of the Ingleside police station had confirmed that the officers were present during the search.
Calderón alleges that the Apple security officials led him to believe they were also SFPD officers, and according to Bay City News, SFPD is unclear as to whether police and Apple employees had clearly identified themselves but "had no information indicating they did not."
