It's been awhile since we've checked in on the fundraising numbers for each mayoral candidate, which is why we're thoroughly enjoying this breakdown of each campaign's funds and expenditures today. Wonky types will undoubtedly find it a fascinating read, but we've teased out some of the salient points. Observe:
- Bevan Dufty spends a lot on political consultants. $230,922 to be exact. Of course, he's hired five by now, so maybe he's giving them all signing bonuses?
- Dennis Herrera's rent is expensive. He's spent some fifty grand on the rent at his (barren last time we walked by) office on California Street and Van Ness. Of course, the staff got a big chunk of his funds too, but there sure seem to be a lot of them.
- Leland Yee owes everybody money, well everybody except his consultants at Stearns Consulting - who he paid even when he was a shoo-in for re-election last year. He owes some $130 grand to law firms and consultants. That figure doesn't seem to include the $6 bottle of sunblock he stole in Hawaii though.
- John Avalos is buying visibility - in the form of $12,000 worth of campaign signs. If the ones around the SFist Western Branch Office are any indication, most of those have gone up in liquor stores and bodegas around the city.
- Joanna Rees pays well - her more valuable staffers are picking up $2,700 paychecks. No word on how much that Sex and the City Cocktail hour ran her, but somebody must have been subsidizing those $1 Cosmos.
