When the battle over California's same-sex marriage ban heads to the California Supreme Court in San Francisco on September 6, TV cameras will be rolling. SF Appeal notes: "Court spokeswoman Lynn Holton said that because of public interest in the case, the court has approved a live statewide television broadcast of the arguments on the California Channel, a public affairs network."

While the testimony is bound to be critical yet dry, it could be even more fodder for Dustin Lance Black's 8, a new play that "consists mostly of actual dialogue from the Proposition 8 trial transcripts in San Francisco. Black's play, which will first be performed at a fundraiser in NYC on Sept. 19, will be directed by Tony Award-winning actor and director Joe Mantello.
