Two teenaged suspects were arrested in connection with the gang-related shooting that occurred on Saturday evening at about 6:15 p.m. on Market between 6th and 7th, just blocks from the Pride celebration at Civic Center.
Along with the intended victim, four bystanders were also shot, including a 17-year-old boy from El Cerrito, a 22-year-old man from Santa Cruz, a 45-year-old man visiting from England, and a 74-year-old man from San Francisco. They were all sent to General Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The 18-year-old and 16-year-old suspects were arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and charges related to gun possession and gang affiliation. It's believed the suspects and their intended victim were associated with separate gangs in the southeast part of the city.
Bluoz, who said it sounded like 40-50 shots were fired, has photos of the incident.
