The prolific Brian Eno (also known as Brian Peter George St. John le Baptiste de la Salle Eno), king of art/glam rock and experimental/ambient music, turns 63 on Sunday. Yep, most of the legendary rock stars are eligible for AARP membership now.
Noise Pop is throwing a nice shindig for Eno tomorrow night at the Roxie, which includes a screening of the brand-new unauthorized documentary, Brian Eno 1971 - 1977: The Man Who Fell To Earth. The film includes lots of Eno's early solo performances and a good amount of Roxy Music clips, along with interviews with Eno collaborators, rock historians, and critics. (Unfortunately, there's no actual input from Eno, which makes for lots of boring speculation, we hear.) Be prepared for a long ride -- the film is a whopping two and a half hours long.
The film screening will be preceded by a video mix of performance clips and birthday surprises. So, Eno fans, get thee to the Roxie!
Happy Birthday, Brian Eno!
