The triple-murder trial of Yusuf Bey IV and Antoine Mackey is nearing its end in Oakland, as the defense begins putting witnesses on the stand today. Defense attorney Gene Peretti, who's serving as Bey's lawyer, says he only plans to call a few witnesses, and expects to rely on the state of evidence as it is now.
The prosecution wound up their case showing the jury a video of Bey bragging that Police Sgt. Derwin Longmire was going to protect him from ever getting prosecuted for the murder of journalist Chauncey Bailey. Closing arguments are expected next week. [NBC, KRON4]
