Thanks to the help of Lyon-Martin Health Services' many loyal supporters, the clinic's board has decided to keep the clinic open for another month with the hope that they can raise an additional $200,000 in donations by the end of April. The board had initially set a goal of raising $700,000 by the end of March, but they decided that the $353,975 raised would keep Lyon-Martin afloat for another month.

The board elected Marj Plumb as its new president on Wednesday, who they describe as having "tremendous energy and a fresh sense of optimism.”

Plumb told the Examiner that although the clinic's still "on the edge of a cliff," she's confident that with the extended deadline they'll be able to raise more money and work with the city to remain open permanently. She vows to "help usher in a new era for Lyon-Martin—with major improvements in transparency, accountability, and financial stability.”
