For your reading pleasure, yet another Weiner story: At today's Board of Supervisor's meeting, D8 Supervisor Scott Weiner will introduce "a resolution in support of a proposal by the Municipal Transportation Agency to increase the number of taxis on San Francisco’s streets during peak hours." Why? Because we need more cabs. And how.

"Along with Muni reform, increasing the number of taxis on our streets will allow people to live in San Francisco without needing a car," said Supervisor Wiener in a written statement. "This is about making San Francisco a leader in transit-first policy."

Cabbies, however, argue that more taxi service means fewer passengers for pick-up. This, of course, is just plain wrong. More cabs during peak hours (i.e., evening commutes, Friday and Saturday nights) means more regular taxi passengers and thus a happier city.
