The second body in two months has been recovered off the shores of Vallejo. Police have not yet determined the cause of death, but today they identified the body as a missing Vallejo man, 45-year-old Robert Mast. Mast was last seen going out to walk his dog on February 5, and police are calling the death "questionable." As the Vallejo Times-Herald reports, "His black and white female pit bull was spotted in the River Park area and returned home later that evening, dragging her leash."
The first body was found last month at the Vallejo Marina, and that death was declared not suspicious.
In other Vallejo news, Vallejo police have identified a man they shot and killed after a low-speed pursuit on Friday as 45-year-old Sherman Peacock. Peacock pointed a weapon at the officers after a chase following a routine traffic stop.
And Vallejo also made headlines earlier this week when they landed at #2 on Newsweek's list of dying cities, right under New Orleans. Ouch. Granted, this ranking was based purely on population counts declining between 2000 and 2010.
