The '90s are certainly back. Notice all the flannel and Doc Martens floating around out there? What better way to further celebrate the recently bygone decade than with an epic re-imagining of a classic Pixies album, which set the stage for the grunge and indie music scenes, among others?
Well, get your grungy butt over to Public Works next Tuesday for UnderCover Presents Pixies' Doolittle. A huge line-up of Bay Area musicians and bands will perform one song each off the pinnacle album, reflecting the sound of that particular band.
We can't wait to hear Conspiracy of Venus take on "Monkey Gone To Heaven". Also on the bill are The Japonize Elephants, Classical Revolution, Ralph Carney, members of the Jazz Mafia, and many more awesome acts. Bay Area composer Aaron Novik is the guest musical director for the event.
You best get your tickets now, since there will only be a few available at the door. Check out The Bay Citizen's in-depth write-up about the event.
UnderCover is a quarterly project that selects an influential album to be performed by a diverse mix of local musicians. Their last show, which paid tribute to the classic Velvet Underground and Nico album, was a hit.
