City Attorney Dennis Herrera is fighting back against Levi’s Guerrrilla marketing campaign promoting Dockers which showed up on sidewalks in the Mission and Hayes Valley yesterday: To answer Mission Mission Allan Hough’s question, yes it is illegal.
Herrera sent a letter to Outdoor Media Group, or OMG (OMG!) demanding they stop stenciling and clean up after themselves.
“San Francisco policy makers have attempted to limit the presence and placement of graffiti so as to protect the unique character of The City and to avoid the dangers created when such blight attracts the attention of pedestrians walking on busy sidewalks and streets,” wrote Herrera.
We’re not quite sure what that last part is about...pedestrian pile-ups by people wondering WTF!? Maybe instead he should have said: "Dockers are so not punk rock. Keep street art for the street artists."
Levi’s has been trying hard to make Docker’s hip , but as Herrera apparently knows, this just isn’t possible.
