SFWeekly has the inside media baseball news from the East Bay, where the East Bay Express has lost Stephen Buel, their editor of over 10 years. Buel, who was also a minority owner of the Express, apparently had some "creative differences" that didn't go well with the new majority owner who took over in August. Managing Editor Kathleen Richards and staff writer Robert Gammon will share the new position of co-editor.

We love the weekly papers around here - they give us something to read - so it always pains us a little bit to see our paper-based colleagues struggling a little bit. Especially one that seems to fund operations with t-shirt sales. (We kid! We're sure they're having no trouble selling backpage ads to pot stores.) With Buel out, the staff at the Express is getting a little thin, but the last time we checked the Berkeley Journalism School was still cranking out highly-qualified interns.
