Facebook, according to "professional community site Glassdoor.com," ranks as the top place to work among the 50 best places to work this year. According to The Chronicle, "To qualify for a ranking, a company had to have elicited 25 or more anonymous employee reviews over the past 12 months that rate eight factors, from confidence in the CEO to life-work balance." (One factor must be getting forced to drink horrific yet tasty booze by your CEO.)

According to CNET, the Palo Alto company earned a rating of 4.6, "besting last year's top employer, Southwest Airlines, which earned a 4.4 rating this year."

The social media darling's no. 1 ranking comes on the heels of Mark Zuckerberg being selected as 'Person of the Year' by the editors of Time.

Other Bay Area companies that made the list? Shutterfly (14), NetApp (15), Apple (20), Analog Devices (21), Synopsys (25), Chevron (26), Google (30), Adobe (39), Salesforce.com (41), Genentech (44), and Intel (45).
