Tune in to Berkeley-based KPFA from 6 - 7 a.m. on weekdays for their new Al Jazeera English program. According to the Daily Clog, "[t]he show started broadcasting here and in New York and Houston [on Monday], but will continue to expand to LA and DC in January."
To some Americans, Al Jazeera means "terrorism radio" or "jihad radio" or "Obama is trying to steal my dentures radio" or whatever English to Tea Party translation pops into their heads. Al Jazeera, meaning "The Island" or "The (Arabian) Peninsula," is actually an international and "independent" news network headquartered in Doha, Qatar. And, it's quite popular and informative.
For the fistful of you who still listen to terrestrial radio, be sure to tune in to KPFA 94.1 FM. Conversely, you can listen to it online.
