Way to go, Bay Area! According to early CHP data, the number of drunk drivers arrested at the start of the holiday weekend is fewer than last year's numbers, although barely. Bay City News reports that between the 12 CHP stations in the Bay Area, 45 intoxicated drivers were arrested in the 12 hour period between Wednesday evening and Thanksgiving morning.
Not a huge improvement over the 47 arrests last year, but still - let's not go pushing our luck (or, you know, drinking and driving at all). CHP will be out in full force through Sunday night. [BCN/SFAppeal] Update: Yeah, nevermind. By the end of the weekend, DUI arrests were up over last year.
