Berkeley Police are searching for Omar Sosa, a man suspected of invading a home in North Berkeley and raping a teenaged girl. The hunt is now focused on Southern California, as Sosa is believed to be headed to Mexico.
Sosa allegedly broke into the house through an unlocked window at 6 a.m. on Saturday morning and attacked the victim in her bedroom. It's likely he then allegedly fled the Bay Area and headed for Mexico.
It's not believed that there was any prior contact between Sosa and the victim, but he might have lived next door to the family for a short period of time.
The suspect, who is between 20 and 30 years old, around 6 feet tall and weighing approximately 190 pounds, might be driving a gray 1997 Ford Ranger double-cab pick-up truck with a camper shell. He might also have injuries on his hands and fingers.
