Last night at AT&T Park, the Giants won their first playoff game in seven years in a 1-0 victory. The star of last night's show? Scrappy Dominant pitcher Tim Lincecum.
"Lincecum went the distance, held Atlanta to two hits and struck out 14, one short of his career high and enough to shatter the franchise postseason record of 10 last accomplished by Jack Sanford in the 1962 World Series," beams The Chronicle. "The way he and catcher Buster Posey orchestrated the win, they looked like Whitey Ford and Yogi Berra working their umpteenth World Series game."
The scene outside the ballpark was more electric than usual. A long line sprouted from Public House's door, making it nearly impossible to snatch a seat at the bar; fans marched down Third Street creating a treacherous sea of orange and black; and desperate fans tried to buy playoffs tickets (going anywhere from $200-$400 from street retailers) with little to no luck.
Game 2 goes down at AT&T Park at 6:37 p.m. tonight.
