You may recall the June murder that occurred in deliriously wealthy peninsula enclave of Hillsborough, the first homocide to occur there in six years. Attorneys for the defense of accused murderer Bradley Kleiman, age 30, have repeatedly delayed the plea in the case, while the prosecution was pushing the judge to enter a not guilty plea so that the case could move forward.

As the Examiner reports, the judge met with Kleiman, and in an unusual move decided to suspend criminal proceedings pending a psychiatric evaluation. It seems the defense may have wanted to stall further, in order perhaps to gather more evidence of Kleiman's mental health history, however now he will face court appointed psychiatrists who will be appointed in a hearing tomorrow.

Kleiman is accused of shooting his friend, Christopher Calvache, twice in the head and once in the buttocks in the poolhouse of Kleiman's parents' home after on argument on June 15. Kleiman called police himself to report that he had "accidentally" shot his friend, but he was seen carrying marijuana plants around the backyard when cops arrived, and later told police that the shooting was in self-defense after Calvache brandished his own weapon.
