The former home of notorious Sacramento serial killer (and onetime brothel owner) Dorothea Puente, behind which Puente buried seven of her victims, sold for $215,000 this past weekend at auction. Bay Area natives and longtime residents may recall the story of Puente, who ran a boarding house at the 1426 F Street property for elderly tenants.

Puente was convicted in 1988 of drugging and murdering three of her tenants.

New owner Tom Williams, a fan of mystery novels, says he finds the 16-bedroom house's past "interesting," and says "It's like creepy in a good way to me." [NBC Bay Area]
