On Saturday night, the last commuter line on AC Transit departed the (former!) Transbay Terminal at 12:15 a.m., and thus ending an era in San Francisco. The terminal, as many of you know, was gross. It was dank and lifeless. Also, it served as an unauthorized temporary housing facility for the homeless. (We'll let you decide whether or not that was a good thing in the comments.) Also-also, it wasn't tall, sleek, modern, or fit to be located anywhere near the jarringly glassy Millennium Tower.

Anyway, did you know that, back in its WWII heyday before freeways and a train track relocation, the old terminal "served as a hub for 6 various local transportation services," with an estimated 26 million passengers annually? Well, local photographer BerDerp (AKA Kapshure) does. He was at the Transbay Terminal on Saturday night to capture the last bus departing the terminal forever. Here are a few images of an end to an era.

On Friday, a Temporary Transbay Terminal opened at Howard and Main streets.
