The jury has reached a verdict in the Mehserle case.
Johannes Mehserhle, accused of killing Oscar Grant on New Year's Day at the Frutivale platform, faces a conviction of 2nd degree murder (15 years - life), voluntary manslaughter (3 - 11 years), involuntary manslaughter (2 - 4 years), or acquittal (uh oh!).
The verdict will be read between 4 p.m. - 4:30 today.

Update 3:36: Businesses in Oakland (like the Kaiser Center) are allowing employees to return home early today, with plans on closing the buildings before the verdict is read.
Update 4:04: BART officials are asking for patience. All trains in downtown Oakland and San Francisco are packed with riders going home early.
Update 4:10: Verdict in. Johannes Mehserle is guilty of involuntary manslaughter.
