A non-profit New Jersey group brought their right-to-die message to the Bay Area this week via a giant sign at Howard and South Van Ness. It reads, "My Life, My Death, My Choice. FinalExitNetwork.org."
Although the sign isn't quite clear -- and conceivably grim for anyone, say, looking to take the final plunge off the Golden Gate Bridge -- the group supports suicide for the terminally ill only. According to the site, FEN's goal is simple:
We do not encourage anyone to end their life, do not provide the means to do so, and do not actively assist in a person’s death. We do, however, support any member who requests it when medical circumstances warrant their decision.
The billboard will be on display for 30 days.
FEN plans on putting up similar signs in New Jersey and, of course, Florida. Right now, Oregon, Washington, and Montana are the only states to legally allow assisted suicide.
