Karen Peterson, a former schoolteacher in Woodside, threw the first pitch at Saturday's Giants game against the Houston Astros. And, according to SF Weekly's Joe Eskenazi, "she threw what may be the worst ceremonial first pitch in the history of humanity." We should point out, however, Peterson's performance is a tour-de-force of charm, folly and warmth -- something one's mother might have done if asked to toss the first pitch. Hell, something we might have done, too, depending on our beer intake.

Be sure to check out her wild pitch after the jump.

Also, SF Weekly has an entertaining, albeit mortifying, compilation of the worst first pitches in baseball. Viewing them could trigger PTSD symptoms to anyone bullied in gym class. (Ahem.) You've been warned.
