Alameda police arrested the man who allegedly kidnapped Max the dog just hours before he was scheduled to be executed. After confessing during a police interview this afternoon, Richard Cochran was arrested on charges of burglary and conspiracy.
On Tuesday, if you recall, a Superior Court commissioner ordered the dog's death after bit two people earlier this year. Presumably distraught, Cochran supposedly used bolt cutters to break into the Alameda Animal Shelter on Wednesday to steal back Max, his doomed pooch. CBS 5 reports, "Cochran hatched a plot with his girlfriend and two others" kidnap the dog.
Cochran's girlfriend, Melissa Perry, will also face similar charges. No word yet as to whether or not Max is alive.
Obviously, this is a job for Nedra Ruiz.
