Saturday is the annual Record Store Day, wherein music geeks will unite while scoring some sweet deals on vinyl and watching in-store live acts at over 700 participating venues internationally.
Both Amoeba locations and Aquarius Records will be participating, among other local stores.
Amoeba has a whole slew of events lined up, including hourly gift certificate giveaways, gift bags with purchase (while supplies last), and a ton of limited-edition vinyl/CD releases.
Jónsi of Sigur Rós will be performing live at Amoeba SF, and Charlotte Gainsbourg will be signing copies of IRM and her Record Store Day 7” release. At Amoeba's Berkeley location, Holly Golightly & The Brokeoffs will be spinning a DJ set (before their live show at Cafe Du Nord later that night).
To continue the stroll down memory lane, which was started in the American Rag thread, feel free to wax nostalgic about Bay Area record stores, past and present, in the comments.
