When your Editor lived in the Historic Mission District for many, many years, it was a lot to take. Not standing in line Bugaloos, asking for the whereabouts of the closest American Apparel, arguably well-dressed, bathed and lightly cologned -- the judgmental glares from the Converse-wearing let-'em-eat-cake set would, at times, prove too much. When that happened, we would head up 24th Street to more open-minded, albeit crowded, grounds of Noe Valley.

But the thoroughfare on 24th Street would get too crowded on the weekends, hence this ingenious plan to convert part of Noe Street south of 24th into a plaza, similar to the one in the Castro. As expected some residents don't want it because... well, because some San Francsicans don't like change because it's different. Supervisor Bevan Dufty, after hearing the complaints of a few NVers, said he doesn't "feel that it can work on even a trial basis." (Dufty, in his defense, has helped turn many a public space into a pedestrian-friendly spot, as well as correctly agreeing to shut down parts of Dolores Park for dire renovations.) However, he hasn't nixed the plaza altogether.

This is where you come in: SFist commenter murphstahoe tells us: "Noe Valley (and District 8 - Bevan is the "decider" after all) YIMBY's please come to the Public Outreach Meeting April 8 at 6:30 PM, at St Philip's Church, 655 Elizabeth St. Come glare at the NIMBY's and raise your hand in support of the plaza."

Or not.
