Taking over the former orgy of meat that was ACME Chophouse at AT&T Park, Traci Des Jardins (Jardinière, Manzanita in Lake Tahoe, Mijita Cocina at the Ferry Building) will open her newest adventure, Public House, smack-dab on the Giants' season opener, April 9. The new space will boast "a year-round destination for great sports watching" and feature one of the largest draft beer (80% local!) and cask ale in the City. The James Beard Award-winning chef's kitchen prowess, of course, will star at the mound. The menu will include modern takes on the Philly Cheesesteak and jalpeño poppers, pork sliders, and the Public House Burger (Marin Sun Farms grass fed beef burger, avocado, bacon and Grafton cheddar cheese, with hand-cut Kennebec fries and house-made pickles)
Also, there will be booze. Lots of it.
What's more, on the same day, Des Jardins will give birth to her second Mijita taqueria right along Third Street, next to Public House and AT&T Park. Mijita will offer signature "Mexican food inspired by Des Jardins’ childhood and her maternal grandmother, Angela Salazar." Best of all, since Des Jardins loathes burritos (thus making her one of our most favorite people on Earth), she has one of the freshest takes on the tired taqueria in all of California.
