What better way to learn about another district than by kicking it for an afternoon with one of San Francisco's chatty supervisors. SPUR (San Francisco Planning and Urban Research Association) will have monthly walking tours boasting one of the rabble rousers who sit on the Board of Supervisors.
Breaking the hymen of the tour series, starting on March 5, Board President David Chiu will show you his frenzied hood through his eyes. Supervisor Chiu will take you to some of his favorite spots and noted historical locations for one solid hour.
Other walking district tours will boast Supervisor Bevan Dufty giving you a tour of District 8 (the Castro, Glen Park, Noe Valley, Twin Peaks, Dolores Park) on April 23 and Supervisor Eric Mar will show you around District 1 (the Richmond)
Also, since there's a cap of 25 people per tour, you might want to get your tickets ($10) as soon as possible. And if you're not a member, which is required for these VIP Supe tours, you'll need to purchase a membership ($65 - $1,000) as well.
